A Living Sacrifice, Holy and Acceptable to God

Praise and thanks be to God, for His marvelous grace which brought us salvation, through Jesus Christ. He offered up Himself for the sins of the world, by whom those who believe are justified and sanctified.

Daily walking with the Lord, God's finished work transforms and perfects us, as we yield to the Holy Spirit.

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3:18)

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:9-11)

Our humble gratitude is exemplified in praise and thanksgiving to God, and the way we conduct ourselves in a sinful world, from which we were called. On the altar of God, we present ourselves daily as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service. (See Romans 12:1 & 2)

Lessons From Nature

The Bible is our manual for godly living. In it, we find instruction on how to live a life that pleases God. Be inspired!

An excerpt from the last words of David, the anointed, sweet psalmist of Israel, as recorded in 2 Samuel 23:2-4: "The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me: 'He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like the tender grass springing out of the earth, by clear shining after rain.' "

Time Goes By

Devotional

How the years come and go. Each new year, we celebrate a new beginning. Excitement builds for all the things we hope to accomplish, but so often, we find ourselves procrastinating and before long, we close the book of blank pages. We are workers in God's vineyard, and our Master will require of us a reckoning of what we have done for His kingdom. He also cares about our desires and wants to fulfill them in accordance with His will and purpose for our lives. He's ready and willing to help us get back on track and make a difference in our world.

Time - The old saying that time waits for no man is absolutely true. Daybreak gives way to nightfall, and the hands on the clock keep moving. The days turn into months and the months into years. We celebrate birthdays and each new year brings us hope for a brighter future. That future is embodied in the will of God for our lives. Many times we make our plans for things that would satisfy us here and now, with little consideration as to how it fits into the eternal purpose of God.

We all want to feel useful in the hands of God. That our time spent on earth is used wisely for the greater good. We envision living a long and healthy life and accomplishing the goals we have set. For the child of God who believes in the finished work of Christ, our primary work is to do the will of God, just as Jesus stated of himself.

God has put desires into our hearts that He wants to fulfill. He invites us to ask of the Father anything in His name and He will do it. Again, this speaks of praying His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. It's not my will, but His.

Our God-given gifts and talents are intended to bring a blessing to those who would benefit from their use. God is honored as we exercise ourselves in them. Remember the Bible story of the servants who were entrusted with their master's goods and had to give a reckoning of their talents? The servant who hid his talent out of fear, received a scolding and confiscation of the single talent he had received.

Whatever we have been given of God, let us use it for His glory. Not comparing ourselves to others, for God has dispensed to each of us according to His will and purpose. Not being fearful, for the more we use the gift, God will bless it, for it is bringing Him much glory and praise. Amen.

Our life's journey is one of time on our way to eternity. While often beset by various trials and tribulations, our heavenly Father is with us. Rejoice! Our lives and times are truly in His hand. Let Him say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord." {Matthew 25:21}

Today's Bible Verse: Psalm 119:11

God's Holy Word
Your Word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.
