The virtuous woman portrayed in the Book of Proverbs is a study in faith, character, grace and good works. It is evident from the passages, that she is a woman of true substance, characterized by a holy faith in God, from which flow her good works.
Her loyalty to her husband is unquestionable, his heart safely trusts in her. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. (Proverbs 31:11 & 12)
She carries herself with dignity and grace. Her conduct is becoming of a woman who knows her worth is priceless. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple, but strength and honor are her real garments. (Proverbs 31:22 & 25)
She seeks out ways to make herself useful and she does so willingly. Not only does she attend to the needs of her household, but to her maidservants, and the poor — A classic example of hospitality and compassion. (Proverbs 31:15, 20, 27)
She is both resourceful and enterprising. Whatever she puts her hands to do, she does with excellence. "She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants." (Proverbs 31:16-18, 24)
She doesn't worry much, if at all. She instead uses her God-given wisdom to resolve the issues of the day. She is not a "Super Woman" by any means. Yet, she is exemplary of someone who spends less time and energy on worrying and more of the same on doing what needs to be done.
She loves much and she is loved and appreciated by her husband and children. They rise up and call her blessed.
Without a doubt, she is a woman exuding great joy. Her kindness touches the hearts and lives of those around her.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates. (Proverbs 31:30 & 31)
